On 28th of September, the completion ceremony of Terminal 3 of Zanzibar International Airport in Tanzania was held. The President of Zanzibar, the Vice President, new Presidential Candidate, the Consul General of China in Zanzibar, other Zanzibar government officials, the person in charge of the Tanzanian branch of BCEG, and the project leaders attended the ceremony.
The President unveiled the foundation stone for airport terminal and cut the ribbon together with Consul General to mark the pilot operation of the terminal. Later, the President visited the internal Hall of the terminal, listened to the general situation of the terminal construction, inspected the explosion-proof security inspection, check-in counter, luggage security check-in hall, VIP waiting hall and other key areas, and talked with local people and airport builders. He said the completion of the project will greatly promote the tourism development of Zanzibar and increase the employment opportunities of local people. He also expressed his gratitude to the builders of BCEG for their outstanding contributions to the project.
In his speech, the consul general said BCEG has fulfilled its duties in the construction process, especially in the past three months, while doing a good job in epidemic prevention, it has worked overtime to complete the task, which has built a stable bridge for the friendship between China and Tanzania.
Terminal 3 of Zanzibar International Airport is a preferential loan project undertaken by BCEG in the form of general contracting. The main body is steel frame structure, with a total construction area of about 126000 square meters, of which the terminal building is about 33680 square meters. The construction of the terminal includes four boarding bridges, luggage sorting, security inspection and other modern equipment, as well as duty-free shop, prayer room, VIP waiting area, etc. The construction of airside includes apron, parking lot, service lane, etc. After completion, the annual passenger throughput will reach 1.6 million, which will greatly promote the tourism development of Zanzibar, provide more opportunities for foreign exchange, and effectively improve Zanzibar's international status.
