On 3rd of October local time, the opening ceremony of the aiding Cote d' Ivoire Abidjan stadium project undertaken by BCEG was held. The President of Cote d'Ivoire, Prime Minister and defense minister, other Cote d' Ivoire government officials, Wan Ni, the Chinese ambassador to Cote d’Ivoire, Lu Jun, Counselor of the Economic and Commercial Department of the Embassy as well as representatives of Chinese enterprises and overseas Chinese in Cote d'Ivoire attended the ceremony.
The President said in his speech that the National Olympic Stadium is the largest stadium with the highest degree of modernization in West Africa. In 1976, the founding president of Cote d'Ivoire planned to build an Olympic City in Abidjan. The completion and the use of the stadium realized the long cherished wish of several generations of leaders and tens of thousands of people in Cote d'Ivoire. He paid special thanks to the Chinese government and all the project builders.
Ambassador Wan Li said that the Olympic stadium is a gift given by China to support Cote d'Ivoire in hosting the 2023 African Cup football match, which is the epitome of the high-level development of China and Cote d'Ivoire relations. After that, he officially handed over the huge golden key to open the stadium, marking the formal use of the stadium.
The Abidjan stadium project in Cote d'Ivoire, which was built with the assistance of the Chinese government and undertaken by BCEG is the second largest foreign aid project after Tanzania Zambia railway. It is the first project under the new mode of foreign aid, and is also the most influential construction aid project in Cote d'Ivoire. The project is located in Aniyama City, Abidjan autonomous region, the economic capital of Cote d'Ivoire, with a total construction area of 61250 square meters, including a natural turf football field, a plastic track composed of 8 curved runways and 10 linear runways on the side of the rostrum, as well as special facilities. The venue standard is the first level certified venue of IAAF, which can hold various national and individual international competitions and accommodate 60000 spectators.
